World of Outlaws at RRVS

The World of Outlaws will be running at Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo tonight, and the track looks pretty good. Not bad, considering last night’s weekly races were called off because of soggy conditions.

Fargo’s Donny Schatz won the A-main feature last night at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, N.D.

RRVS postpones opener again

Fans of racing at Red River Valley Speedway are going to have to continue to wait.

For the third week in a row, the opening night of racing at the West Fargo track was postponed due to weather. The half-mile track was supposed to open on Friday, but will try again to open on May 22.

The original opening night was slated for May 1, but cold conditions postponed that opener. On May 8, the weather cancelled the show.

Opening night, seriously

There have been a glut of cancellations around area tracks, but Buffalo River Race Park is set to roll tonight.

Both Norman County Raceway in Ada, Minn., and Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo have had to cancel their openers twice this season.

But things are different at BRRP, as usual. The Glyndon, Minn., track did not have to cancel one night of racing last season, and they’re off to a perfect start this year with gorgeous weather and a great looking track. Sounds like there will be more than 100 cars here tonight, which isn’t too shabby.

I’ll provide live updates on this post from the features, and I’ll deliver some updates throughout the heats if anything out of the ordinary occurs.

Stay tuned.

Local schedules aplenty!

Schedules for a couple of local race tracks have been released, as both Red River Valley Speedway and Buffalo River Race Park are set.

The West Fargo track will open on Friday, May 1, while the Glyndon track will open Sunday, May 10. At BRRP, the points championship will be Sept. 6, with the Corncob Nationals the following weekend. At RRVS, the World of Outlaws show is June 20, and the season championship is Aug. 28. RRVS is also running Saturday shows on May 30 and Aug. 1.

The RRVS schedule is available here. The Buffalo River Race Park schedule is available here.

This means racing season is right around the corner. Now I have to go shovel the foot of snow off my driveway.
